Recently, the University of Florida requested/demanded that Glades Day School in Belle Glade, Florida, change their logo. Why? Because it is exactly the same as the university’s logo. So the colors are a little different, but really, it’s the same. It may seem that this big university is picking on some little guy, who has used this logo for 44 years. But if it is indeed true that UF had rights to this logo first, then the logo is their intellecutal property and stealing it is a crime. Logos are important because they distinguish and identify a brand. That’s why they need to be completely unique.
